Janina Elkin was born on Monday, December 20, 1982 (age 38 years; as of 2020), in Kyiv, Ukraine. During her early childhood days, Janina’s parents enrolled her in dance classes at Kyiv State Dance Academy. Later, she began learning Ballet at State Ballet Academy in Mannheim, Germany. In 2001, she pursued a four-year course in acting at Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute, New York. In 2012, she enrolled herself in a two-year course in acting at Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts, Berlin. Later, to polish her acting skills, she took additional acting courses like Method Acting Master Class (2010), Meisner Technique training (2010) at Actors-Space in Berlin, and Ivana Chubbuck Masterclass (2018). Theater

Janina Elkin made her theater debut in 2003 when she played the role of ‘Yvonne’ in the play ‘Der schönste Tag,’ which was staged at the Altonaer Theater in Hamburg. Other plays in which she performed include Lost (2006), Der Taxifahrer (2007), and Motortown (2007). In 2009, she landed the female lead, Frances Baby Houseman, in the musical play ‘Dirty Dancing’ which was staged at Theater am Potsdamer Platz, Berlin.

After her short film debut Tumbling Leaf (2004), she earned immense appreciation when she played the role of Dominique in the German Independence Award-winning short film Scissu (2009).
