In 2013, Grayson and his brother, Ethan, garnered huge popularity on a video sharing application called Vine; Grayson and Ethan have over 6.4 million followers on Vine. In March 2014, Grayson and Ethan Dolan started their YouTube channel, ‘Dolan Twins.’ In June 2015, they uploaded their first video titled ‘The Blender Challenge.’
They have over 11.1 million people subscribed to their YouTube channel.
They moved to Los Angeles after they signed with William Morris Endeavor agency in 2015. On March 27, 2018, Grayson and Ethan, through a video titled ‘Bye For Now’ announced that they were taking a break from YouTube. They explained that with the time, their content on YouTube changed, and they wanted to explore themselves creatively. On May 1, 2018, they announced their return to YouTube. In June 2018, Grayson, Ethan, James Charles (YouTuber), and Emma Chamberlain (YouTuber) started a group, ‘The Sister Squad,’ on YouTube. They uploaded videos of themselves on their channels and were featured on YouTube Rewind 2018.

Controversies
- In 2020, an old video clip of Grayson went viral online in which he was seen saying homophobic slurs. The clip is a part of an old YouTube video in which Grayson and Ethan were talking about how they faced bullying when they were in high school. In the video, he had also talked about the things people posted about him online, which also included homophobic slurs. Some people cut the short clip of Grayson saying homophobic slurs and spread it online. After this, Grayson faced a huge backlash from the public as they decided to cancel the Dolan Twins. - In 2018, many of Grayson and Ethan’s fans requested to address the issue faced by the people of color who shared times when they received racist remarks from other people in the fandom. After the complaint reached the Dolan twins, Ethan tweeted that they were all same. However, this did not go well with the fans, and they criticized the Dolan Twins for not addressing the issue directly and avoiding it.
