She did her schooling from John Muir High School Early College Magnet, Pasadena, California, and graduated as an honors student. As a child, she wished to be an FBI agent and was awarded an LAPD scholarship to Howard University to study the Administration of Justice. However, she changed her mind and switched to pursue her Majors in Human Communication and minors in Dramatic Arts from Howard University.
