In 1964, Desnoyers gave birth to their first child, a boy named Pranck (aged 57 years as of 2021). In 1969, Charles came into a relationship with Chantal Compagnon, while he was still dating Desnoyers. Soon, he broke up with Desnoyers to be with Compagnon. Talking about his relationship with Compagnon and their split in an interview, she said,
We met at an early age then he met another woman, also called Chantal. We saw each other again but we decided not to live together because, though we understand each other, I am very independent.”
The day Chantal Compagnon and Charles married, Desnoyers became mother to her second child, a girl named Muriel Anouk.

In an interview, Chantal said that Charles was in touch with his children and sent letters and cassettes through which he communicated with them.
They know his past but they are not judgemental. They love him. You know, it’s not possible to judge. Human nature is too complicated.”

- In a 1995 interview, Charles’ lawyer disclosed that Desnoyers was diagnosed with abdominal cancer. Talking about it in a telephonic interview, she said,
I told him not to tell anyone. Charles should not have spoken about it.”
- In an interview, talking about relationship between her and Charles, she said,
Charles is a very dear friend. We are very close. I write to him twice a week. I have a great tenderness for him. We understand each other. I don’t think he loves me. He needs me, that’s all.”
- In the same interview, she defended Charles and said,
Well, I don’t want to say. It’s personal. He’s not responsible, you can’t judge him the way you would other normal people. I don’t think he realises what he does.”
